Job Description:
Positive Employment is currently recruiting for a Project Manager for our client a local government organisation in Bristol.
The successful candidate will responsible for the effective shaping, planning and delivery of large-scale, capital construction projects which are high-risk, high-cost and high-profile. They apply their specialist technical, professional knowledge and experience to deliver these projects effectively on behalf of the organisation.
The project will develop a world class facility for the children and young people of Bristol. The Youth Zone is to be located in the South of the City where investment is required to deliver greater equality of opportunity and to reduce the impact of harm through deprivation faced by families in that area.
This is initially a 7 month contract with the possibility to extend after that date. This role is hybrid working with regular attendance on site in Bristol likely needed due to the construction-focused nature of the work.
Duties and Responsibilities but not limited to:
*Leading project teams to deliver construction projects providing timely instructions and support to all the relevant stakeholders.
*Work with built environment contractors and developers (stakeholders) adhering to development agreements.
*Beware of and ensure the application of the necessary measures to meet CDM 2015 requirements.
*Proactively manage stakeholder expectations, representing the organisation’s interests to deliver projects on budget and in line with construction programmes.
*The ability to manage internal budgets and apply a problem-solving approach to issues and challenges.
*Developing business cases for the firmer proposals that emerge from the evaluations and progressing these through the organisation’s decision-making processes.
*Establishing and maintaining appropriate governance for the project, including progress reporting to the project board.
*Updating and maintaining key project controls (e.g. plan, RAID log, budget management) using our project management software.
*Reporting progress to Director of Children and Education Transformation.
Personal Requirements:
*Qualified to degree level or equivalent (or has developed skills and experience to this level) with advanced knowledge and practical application of a recognised project management methodology such as Prince2.
*Demonstrates a commitment to their own ongoing development through membership of a relevant Chartered or Incorporated professional body (e.g. The Chartered Institute of Building or RICS).
*Detailed understanding of the laws, regulations and standards associated with the development and delivery of construction projects, including, for example, the Construction (Design & Management) Regulations(CDM 2015).
*Experience of developing complex proposals and business cases that shape strategic objectives into deliverable projects and which gain approval to proceed.
*Experience in construction procurement, contract- and supplier management to ensure that the right suppliers are sourced and that they deliver to their contractual commitments.
*Ability to control budgets relating to allocated projects and achieve financial targets set out. This includes forecasting, monitoring, authorising, reviewing and controlling expenditure. As required perform commercial risk analysis, and value management activities and reporting.
Working Hours: 37hrs / 9:00am - 17:00pm / Monday to Friday
Pay: £550.00 per day
