Our client, a leading organisation in the UK, is seeking a Project Commercial Manager to play a pivotal role in driving commercial value and supporting the delivery of their crucial projects. As the Project Commercial Manager, you will be responsible for developing the end-to-end commercial strategy for both enterprise and non-enterprise onshore projects. In collaboration with stakeholders and suppliers, including external enterprise partners, you will implement this strategy and establish productive relationships with key OEMs and other suppliers. Your role will involve regularly monitoring their changing landscape to ensure the best contract frameworks are implemented, balancing risks and opportunities.
Your scope of influence will extend to actively seeking and pursuing commercial and innovative opportunities. Additionally, you will be responsible for developing the business case for all projects and overseeing the project commercial ’health check’ to identify and mitigate commercial and contractual risks. It will be essential to ensure the consistent application of the commercial strategy across all projects. You will also work closely with project directors and senior project managers, serving as a trusted business partner on commercial strategy, compliance, and assurance.
To excel in this role, the ideal candidate should possess the gravitas and independence to operate effectively both internally and externally. We are seeking an entrepreneurial professional who can drive commercial value, leveraging best practises from the energy sector and other industries. Adaptable and open-minded, you should be eager to explore new ideas and approaches. While an understanding of the regulatory environment that our client operates in is desirable, a strong grasp of procurement, commercial value, contractual processes, project management, and risk analysis is crucial.
Key Qualifications:
Proven contract management expertise
In-depth understanding of the energy sector, with experience in ancillary sectors with high capex infrastructure being considered
Strong commercial acumen
Excellent stakeholder management skills
Significant gravitas
To succeed in this role, you should possess outstanding business skills encompassing commercial acumen, stakeholder management, facilitation and communication, coaching and training, as well as influencing. Additionally, a numerical degree, professional commercial qualification (such as MCIPS or MRICS), and knowledge of major contract frameworks would be advantageous.
