Job Description:
Job title: Desktop Engineer
Location: Stevenage, UK
Security Clearance: SC clearance required/must be able to attain a minimum level of UK security clearance.
About the role
As a Desktop Engineer, you will play a vital role in ensuring that our desktop computing environment remains secure, reliable, and optimised for performance. You will work collaboratively across our technical team to maintain and support desktop systems, enabling our workforce and partners to meet the growing demands of this national program.
What you’ll be doing:
*Install, configure, and maintain desktop hardware and software to ensure high performance and a seamless user experience.
*Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and network issues promptly to minimise downtime for end users.
*Apply security protocols, updates, and patches to protect desktop environments from unauthorised access.
*Partner with IT team members and key stakeholders to resolve desktop-related issues.
*Manage and prioritise support tickets within defined SLAs, keeping users and team members informed with timely updates.
*Utilise remote desktop support tools and ITSM software (e.g., ServiceNow) to support distributed teams and resolve issues effectively from any location.
You will have the following experience:
*Hands-on experience in desktop support, with a focus on troubleshooting and resolving technical issues in complex environments.
*Preferred certifications include CompTIA A+, Microsoft Certified: Modern Desktop Administrator Associate, or equivalent.
*In-depth knowledge of desktop operating systems (Windows and macOS), common hardware components, and standard software applications.
*Skilled in configuring and maintaining desktop systems, including operating systems, hardware, and software applications.
*Knowledge of cybersecurity principles, with experience in applying security measures to safeguard desktop environments.
*Proficiency with remote desktop support tools and IT service management platforms like ServiceNow.
