Job Description:
The Met Office is looking for a User Researcher to support our data delivery programme. We aim to get our world-class weather data in the hands of users who can use it to help people stay safe and thrive. Met Office data is available through a range of internal and third-party systems, the User Researcher will represent the voice of our diverse range of users, and potential users, by conducting user research to deeply understand their needs.
This role will be embedded in a multidisciplinary team and will be responsible for planning and carrying out user research activities. The service should help users complete their goal of acquiring the data they need and deliver the Met Office’s goal of our data being used to create social value and economic benefits. The role will form part of the Met Office dedicated User-Centred Design team, championing user-centred best practice within projects to help build a user focused culture.
A User Researcher in the Data Delivery Programme will:
• Be expected to work independently on a team
• Plan and carry out user research activities within a service context
• Conduct user research to provide insights that inform the creation or iteration of Met Office data delivery products and services
• Analyse and synthesise user research findings using a range of methodologies and techniques
• Create clear findings that help your team continuously improve the service, based on data and evidence
• Present findings and user insights to stakeholders, teams and users to help align and inform decision-making
• Involve the team in user research to help everyone develop a deep understanding of the users
• Use the best tools and approaches to understand the user needs
• Be an active member of the UCD practice to support a user-centred culture across the organisation
• Recruit participants for user research and schedule research for data delivery services.
