Position Available: Project Lead Systems Engineer
Location: Essex
Experience needed: We are seeking an experienced systems engineer with a strong track record of leading projects through the full engineering lifecycle. The ideal candidate will have broad technical knowledge, experience in complex industries like aerospace, automotive or defence, and proven skills in managing customer expectations, technical risks, and governance. Experience with bid delivery and proposal writing would be an advantage.
About the role

We are a leading aerospace company at the forefront of innovation in the industry. We are looking for a Project Lead Engineer to provide technical leadership and oversight across the full project lifecycle, from design and development to verification and delivery.
As the main technical point of contact with the customer, you will lead multidisciplinary teams, ensuring alignment between engineering disciplines and project goals. You will generate Engineering Management Plans, provide governance, and manage risks and opportunities to ensure successful project outcomes.
The role will also involve managing configuration control, overseeing sub-contractor work packages, and contributing to bids and technical proposals. With your expertise, you will tailor project processes and governance to meet specific risks and drive technical excellence throughout the lifecycle.

What we need from you:
*Good systems engineering experience within a complex environment such as aerospace, defence or space
*Broad knowledge across the full systems V lifecycle
*Strong track record of leading complex projects through the full engineering lifecycle
*Strong stakeholder management skills and the ability to manage customer expectations
*Good technical presentation and document writing skills
*Experience with bid preparation and technical proposal writing is a plus
