Head of HR & Learning & Development
Location: Houghton le Spring
Salary: £60,000 - £70,000 + Benefits
Type: Full-Time, Permanent. Site based
Sarah McKenna HR Recruitment is delighted to be working exclusively with a forward-thinking energy solutions provider in Houghton le Spring. This company is on an exciting growth trajectory and is seeking a commercially focussed and experienced Head of HR to lead and shape their people function.
About the Company:
Our client is a privately-owned, innovative company operating within the energy sector. Over the past seven years, they have experienced significant growth, with 150 employees currently on board and plans to expand, they are poised for even greater achievements.
The Role:
As the Head of HR & L&D, you will be instrumental in driving the company’s HR and L&D strategies. Reporting directly to the Operations DIrector, you will work closely with the senior leadership team to align HR initiatives with the company’s ambitious growth plans. Your role will be pivotal in cultivating a positive workplace culture, enhancing employee engagement, and driving organisational success.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership:
*Develop and execute HR and L&D strategies that are aligned with the company’s business goals.
*Act as a strategic advisor to senior management, providing expert insights on HR and L&D initiatives.
HR Management:
*Lead the recruitment process, ensuring the attraction and retention of top talent.
*Oversee employee relations, maintaining a positive and collaborative work environment.
*Implement effective performance management systems to drive continuous improvement.
*Ensure full compliance with UK employment laws, mitigating legal risks.
Learning & Development:
*Design and implement comprehensive L&D programs to support employee growth within a results-driven culture.
*Identify and address training needs, developing tailored training plans for all staff levels.
*Promote a culture of continuous learning, encouraging employees to achieve their full potential.
HR Operations:
*Manage and optimise HR budgets and resources for maximum efficiency and impact.
*Oversee HR systems and data management, ensuring accurate and secure record-keeping.
*Use HR metrics and analytics to inform data-driven decision-making.
*Directly manage an HR Advisor and an apprentice, while providing dotted-line oversight to the team of trainers and coaches.
The Ideal Candidate:
Our client is looking for a proactive and commercial HR leader who can bring a fresh perspective to their organisation. You should be someone who can quickly understand the business, align with their culture, and apply your expertise to achieve positive outcomes. A strong communicator with the gravitas to navigate challenging situations, you will have experience in a sales-driven environment and a proven track record in HR leadership. A CIPD qualification would be preferred.
