Job Description:
Are you an experienced CMM Programmer with a minimum of 5 years’ experience working within casting, automotive, steel manufacturing or aeronautical industries?
Do you have strong experience working with metallic materials?
GMP Recruitment are currently working with a hugely successful and highly recognised leading international manufacturer on the outskirts of Worcestershire. We are supporting their recruitment for a Metrologist to join their team on a full time, permanent contract.
This is a full-time position, working days Monday - Friday 37.5 hours per week.

The Metrologist will take ownership of the on-site metrology and provide support for creation and update of programs for coordinate measuring equipment using industry standard platforms. You will provide professional guidance and technical oversight for measuring system integration with effective data reporting tools deployment. The role will support CMM equipment and other special measurement techniques using coordinate measuring equipment. Role deliverables will include support and effective creation of standard test methods and auxiliary process documentation to ensure quality standards are achieved and support current and future business needs.
Metrologist main duties:
· Owner of business metrology process/es
· Create and adjust programs to maximise production effectiveness
· Control and improve measuring equipment utilisation
· Program optimisation and alignment to industry best practices bringing effectiveness improvement and measurement time reduction
· Demonstrate the competency in training and constantly performs operations, which include:
-FTY Analysis
-Correlation studies
-Datum MC feedback/monitor
-NPI CMM program introduction
· Actively takes part in continuous improvement projects
· Provide training to Coordinate Machine operatives
· To create and own applicable Standard Operational Procedures (SOP’s), work instructions and visual aids.
· Operate Computer System to input and retrieve data
· To support generation and use of data cards and data transfer templates
· Monitor the process and recognise any faults or defects with either the process or equipment and report them to supervision
· Understanding the materials, how they are manufactured and the impact on the end product
· Share knowledge and expertise including training others to improve company products and services
· Comply with and support the EHS polices, processes and programmes.
· Ensure EHS training is adhered to.
Metrologist required skills and experience:
· CMM programming with minimum 5 years of experience working within casting, automotive, steel manufacturing or aeronautical industries
· Experience of working with metallic materials which involve using CMM equipment
· Working understanding of Mitutoyo CMM machines and software
· Familiar with MCOSMOS
· Familiar with BLS Scan Software, trained to deploy Blue Light Scanner
· Recognised professional capable to run gauge R&R studies
· Ability to work under high pressure
· Good communication skills
· Computer literate
