Job Introduction
Female Complex Care Worker
Pay rate: £ 13.13
Shift Pattern: Weekend days (9:00am - 2:00pm) and Weekday nights (10:00pm - 07:00am)
Requirements: Spinal care experience, UK Driver’s Licence
Unfortunately, we cannot provide VISA sponsorship and we do not hire on a relocation basis, you must currently be based in/around the Caythorpe, Grantham area and able to commute.
We’ve got a rewarding opportunity for a compassionate, professional, and experienced female Complex Care Worker to support a gentleman living with a C7 spinal cord injury. This role is female-only due to the personal care requirements of the client. It involves delivering high-quality, person-centered care, with a focus on managing the complexities of spinal injury, including autonomic dysreflexia.

Key Responsibilities
As a Complex Care Worker, you will work closely with the client to manage his physical, emotional, and medical needs, promoting independence and improving his quality of life. You will provide assistance with personal care, health monitoring, and mobility, and play a key role in recognizing and responding to autonomic dysreflexia, ensuring his safety and comfort at all times.
Personal Care & Hygiene:
*Assist with bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting, ensuring the client’s dignity and comfort.
*Provide bowel management, including rectal medication, digital stimulation, and manual evacuation (if required and trained).
*Provide support with bladder management, including catheter care.
Autonomic Dysreflexia (AD) Management:
*Recognize early signs and symptoms of AD, such as high blood pressure, headaches, or flushing.
*Take appropriate actions to resolve triggers, such as bladder or bowel issues, and follow emergency protocols if necessary.
Health Monitoring & Medical Support:
*Monitor vital signs and monitor the client’s overall health including recognising the early symptoms of AD.
*Administer medications as prescribed, including those related to spinal cord injury care.
*Monitor vital signs, such as blood pressure, to detect and respond to any changes promptly.
Nutritional Support:
*Assist with meal preparation and feeding, adhering to the client’s dietary requirements and preferences.
Moving and Handling:
*Provide safe and effective assistance with transfers and positioning using appropriate mobility aids, such as hoists or wheelchairs.
*Support the client with positioning to prevent pressure sores and ensure comfort.
Physiotherapy Support:
*Assist with exercises, stretches, and passive movements as part of the client’s physiotherapy routine.
Social & Lifestyle Engagement:
*Facilitate participation in hobbies, social activities, and community events to enhance the client’s emotional well-being and quality of life.
*Accompany the client to medical appointments and outings as needed.
Emotional & Psychological Support:
*Provide companionship and empathetic emotional support, fostering a trusting and supportive relationship.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate individual who can confidently manage the complexities of caring for someone with a C7 spinal cord injury.
Essential Requirements:
*Experience in providing care for individuals with spinal cord injuries, including C7 level injuries.
*Knowledge and experience in managing autonomic dysreflexia.
*Expertise in bowel management, catheter care, and moving and handling techniques.
*Ability to administer medication and monitor vital signs effectively.
*Excellent communication skills and a calm, professional demeanour.
*A compassionate and empathetic approach to delivering care.
