Accounts Assistant

We are seeking a dedicated and professional Accounts Assistant to join our clients dynamic accounts team in Preston. Our client is a well established company who has a strong presence in the sporting industry. This role involves supporting various aspects of the accounting function, including sales and purchase ledger management, payroll processing, and expenses handling.
A successful candidate will be based Chorley, with potential travel to other locations as needed to support various business requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
The Accounts Assistant will support a busy and professional accounts team with your responsibilities including managing the sales ledger, raising sales invoices, and processing purchase invoices and credit card payments using AI-driven software. The role also involves assisting with processing both monthly and weekly payroll, contributing to the month-end management accounting process, and ensuring accuracy and timely reporting. Additionally, the successful candidate will process employee expenses through a designated software system, oversee electronic banking payments, and manage petty cash.
Essential Experience and Skills:
The ideal candidate will have proven experience working in a busy accounts department and be familiar with computerised accounting software, particularly Sage 50. Strong attention to detail, a proactive approach to tasks, and the ability to adapt to new systems and processes are essential. The candidate should also have a willingness to develop new skills and expand their knowledge.
Desirable Qualifications:
*A professional qualification or progress toward AAT, CIMA, or similar (study support may be provided).
*Experience in assisting with month-end management accounts.
*Previous experience in a professional sports club
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
Salary: £25,000 - £30,000, depending on experience
