You must have experience in procurement and supply-chain, ideally this will be from the manufacturing or engineering sector.
You must also have a full UK driving licence
Monday to Friday 8:30 am to 5:00 pm with 1 hour for lunch - this is a full-time office-based position
Our client’s business operates in various functionalities as part of its group of companies and is proud to be a leading distributor of sealing solutions to varied sectors, they also manufacture gaskets and plastic packaging and sell corporate clothing. The business forms part of a privately owned group of companies that has been established for almost 160 years! They have an excellent reputation within the industry and the company has a real ’family’ feel about it; everyone is there to help each other wherever possible, no one is ’just a number’ and each member of staff has an integral role within the business. They are based in Barnsley, located close to both Rotherham and Doncaster and just a 10-minute car journey from Junction 36 of the M1 for Sheffield and Wakefield commuters too. Role Overview:
We are looking for someone who will not only possess the right personal qualities to join our client’s well-established team but also someone who has experience in a similar role. You will be focusing on supply-chain management, building positive relationships with all suppliers, negotiating new contracts and managing imports. Duties of the Senior Buyer:
*Attending supplier review meetings via Microsoft Teams
*Carrying out supplier visits and ensuring positive relationships are being built upon - you will have use of the company pool car
*Being actively involved in the Continual Improvement Programme
*Negotiating new contracts and price increases
*Implementing supplier rebate agreements
*Managing departmental KPIs and reporting directly to the MD
*Dealing with far-East and European Shipping and delivery schedules
*Maintaining stock levels
*Creating the daily stock shortage report
*Processing Purchase Orders
*Managing order confirmations
*Updating Purchase Order dates on the inhouse system
*Checking delivery supplier notes and matching to invoices
*Managing supplier order books
*Dealing with purchase order and invoice queries
*Managing unconfirmed/late orders and overseeing supplier on-time delivery
*Sending supplier requests for quotations
*Managing key supplier consignment stock
*Looking at new suppliers and undertaking re-sourcing projects
*Working on cost-down initiatives
*Managing imports and freight companies
To fulfil the role of Senior Buyer role you must:
*Have experience in procurement and supply chain, ideally from the manufacturing or engineering sectors
*Be confident and enjoy dealing with suppliers over the phone
*Have strong relationship building skills
*Have good attention to detail
*Have experience in using procurement systems
Additional attributes which would be advantageous to fulfil the role of Senior Buyer:
*Ideally CIPS (Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply) trained
*Wide-ranging international procurement experience in particular with the Far-East including dealing with freight companies
*A good understanding of incoterms
*Ideally experienced in reading and understanding drawings
