Job Description:
Maintenance Engineer
Location: Thornton, Cleveleys, Blackpool or Preston
Employment Type: Permanent
Working Hours: Day Shift (Monday to Friday), with occasional out-of-hours work
We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Engineer with proven experience in packaging machinery to join our manufacturing team. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of production maintenance to ensure seamless operations. Your expertise will keep our machinery in optimal condition, minimizing downtime and addressing any breakdowns efficiently. The role also involves preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and liaising with external contractors when necessary.
Key Responsibilities:
*Perform preventive maintenance on machinery and mechanical equipment to ensure uninterrupted operations.
*Troubleshoot and resolve malfunctions by observing and diagnosing equipment performance issues.
*Identify problems by closely monitoring manufacturing equipment in action.
*Reduce downtime by training production operators in preventative maintenance techniques and ensuring adherence.
*Manage equipment, parts, and supply inventories, including anticipating needs, placing orders, and verifying deliveries.
*Document and communicate maintenance actions, issues, and future requirements to maintain operational continuity.
*Maintain a safe and organized work environment in compliance with safety procedures and regulations.
*Collaborate with on-site personnel to ensure machinery runs at peak efficiency.
*Oversee health and safety practices, including the completion of permits, isolations, and PAT testing.
*Monitor, control, and report on maintenance stock levels, ensuring timely planning and issuance of parts.
*Maintain a clean and organised workspace, ensuring overall tidiness and efficiency.
What We’re Looking For:
*Demonstrated experience in packaging machinery maintenance.
*Strong technical and mechanical aptitude.
*Electrical experience and qualifications are desirable but not essential.
*Proactive, dynamic, and resourceful approach to problem-solving.
*Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to drive cultural change and foster respect for equipment and tools.
*Computer literacy and proficiency in maintenance-related software.
