Job Title: Field Service Engineer - Switchgear
Location: Liverpool
Salary: Up to £45,000 (negotiable)
About the Role:
We are partnering with a leading Switchgear service business to recruit a Field Service Engineer. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced engineer with a background in electrical or mechanical systems to join a dynamic team. As a Field Service Engineer, you will play a key role in servicing, maintaining, and upgrading Switchgear and associated systems across the UK and internationally.
Key Responsibilities:
*Field customer enquiries and provide technical support, advice, and quotations for service-related work.
*Undertake pre-mobilisation tasks such as risk assessments and method statements.
*Perform service and maintenance on Switchgear, including upgrades, life extensions, protection relay testing, and breakdown repairs.
*Ensure health and safety standards are adhered to both at customer sites and within the company’s operations.
*Participate in out-of-hours call-out service when required.
*Complete all required reports, expense claims, and necessary documentation in a timely manner.
*Lead field assignments when working with subcontractors.
*Promote excellent customer service and represent the company with professionalism.
Requirements:
*Experience in electrical or mechanical engineering with a focus on Switchgear systems.
*Ideally, time-served apprenticeship in electrical engineering or equivalent qualifications.
*Minimum ONC level qualification in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent).
*Familiarity with technical report writing and Microsoft Office applications.
*Knowledge of switchgear operation, maintenance, and fault-finding.
*Experience working offshore or in marine environments is an advantage.
*Strong problem-solving abilities and a systematic approach to tasks.
*Excellent communication skills, with the ability to interact confidently with customers and internal teams.
*Ability to work well under pressure, prioritising tasks effectively.
Additional Information:
*37.5 hours per week.
*Salary range: £30,000 - £45,000 depending on experience.
*OTE (On-Target Earnings) potential.
*Travel, accommodation, and fuel expenses covered.
*Shift work, including overseas and night shifts, with applicable rates.
