Job Description:
Our client, a large shipping and logistics company based in Felixstowe, are actively seeking to recruit an experienced Transport Planner. The successful applicant will be rewarded with extensive benefits, a very competitive salary, career progression and a company car.
Key Responsibilities:
*Planning the most efficient transport routes for containers, considering factors like cost, time, and capacity.
*Coordinating with shipping lines, carriers, and freight forwarders to ensure that containers are delivered on time.
*Scheduling pick-up and delivery times for containers.
*Monitoring the availability and allocation of containers, ensuring sufficient stock for planned shipments.
*Acting as a liaison between customers, drivers, port operators, and other logistics teams to ensure seamless operations.
*Ensuring containers are properly labelled, and shipping details are accurate to avoid delays or legal issues.
*Addressing and resolving any transportation-related issues that may arise, such as delays, accidents, or route changes.
*Monitoring transportation costs, negotiating rates with carriers and seeking opportunities for cost savings.
Skills & Experience required:
*Minimum 3 years’ experience working as a Transport Planner
*Strong commercial awareness
*Driven professional
*Full UK driving licence
