Job Description:
Caretaker
*Location: Luton
*Contract: Long-term
*Day Rate: £90 - £180
*Start Date: November 2024
We are seeking a dedicated Caretaker to join an educational setting in Luton on a long-term basis, with the potential for a permanent position. This role is ideal for individuals who are reliable, hardworking, and have a professional attitude, with the option for training if caretaking experience is not already held.
Day-to-day of the role:
*Undertake all training required to deliver the caretaking role effectively.
*Adhere to all quality, safety, health, and environmental policies and procedures.
*Maintain equipment to ensure cleanliness, safety, and proper functioning.
*Manage maintenance, cleaning, security, and safety within school premises and grounds.
*Respond to emergency cleaning needs, including slippery floors and spillages.
*Monitor helpdesk jobs, addressing and closing them within assigned timelines and service level agreements (SLAs).
*Act as a key holder, managing access to buildings as required.
*Perform porterage tasks as per SLAs and school requests.
*Keep internal and external areas litter-free.
*Act as the first responder to helpdesk jobs, resolving issues or providing feedback.
*Manage waste by emptying bins both externally and internally.
*Arrange room setups for examinations and school functions, and restore original layouts afterward.
*Conduct all Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) tasks, including fire alarm and sprinkler tests, and emergency light checks.
*Participate in an out-of-hours rota system for building usage.
*Provide access for contractors and escort them if necessary.
*Adhere to all safeguarding policies and maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
*Perform other related duties as required, according to business needs.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
*Previous caretaking experience is preferred, but training is available.
*Reliable and hardworking with a professional attitude.
*Ability to work to a schedule and as part of a team.
*Capable of working independently when needed.
*Open, honest, self-driven, and determined.
*Committed to continuous improvement in service delivery.
