Job Description:
MLRO
Location: Birmingham City Centre (Predominantly Office-based)
Salary: To £75k + bonus (to 30%) + benefits
Looking for your first MLRO position?
Opportunities to step up into your first MLRO role are few and far between. ’Dead man’s shoes’ at work and an external market that always seems to go with the more experienced MLRO option. Frustrating isn’t the word!
But this is different. This role is seen as an ideal opportunity for you to make that step up.
And so, if you’ve hit a glass ceiling in your current role, here’s your chance to smash right through it.
You’ll be working for an established, market-leading firm that is growing fast, both here in the UK and internationally. As MLRO you’ll be responsible for ensuring the business operates in full alignment with UK and international money laundering regulations.
Managing a small, settled team, you’ll maintain and enforce the firm’s AML and KYC due diligence policies, ensuring they are robust and up to date. You’ll oversee the Client Onboarding process, ensuring all AML and KYC procedures are followed and sign-off on escalated cases that require additional scrutiny.
You’ll also regularly review and update Financial Crime policies to reflect any changes in UK and international legislation and drive a Compliance culture across the business by delivering training and providing advice and guidance to other departments.
You’ll have strong experience in a senior Financial Crime role with broad experience across CDD, EDD, PEPs and Sanctions screening, Transaction Monitoring, SARs reporting, Fraud etc., having an excellent working knowledge of relevant regulations.
Unusually, previous Financial Services experience is not essential for this role, and we’re interested in hearing from Financial Crime specialists from all sectors.
You’ll also ideally have managed a small team previously and you must be happy operating in a very hands-on capacity.
This is a predominantly office-based role, although there will be some flexibility for home working once you’re settled and proven in the position. The firm’s offices are right next door to New Street Station in Birmingham City Centre and so ideal for public transport links.
