SEMH Specialist
Overview
NextGen are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEMH Specialist to join our team. This role is pivotal in providing support and education to children, particularly those with special needs, including autism and behavioural needs. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in special education and experience working with children. SEMH stands for Social, Emotional ad Mental Health needs so the ideal candidate will be willing to provide behaviour support and Team Teach if necessary.
Responsibilities
*Provide individualised support to children with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs.
*Collaborate with parents and other professionals to create tailored educational plans that promote learning and development.
*Implement strategies to enhance communication skills among children, adapting techniques to suit individual needs.
*Monitor and document the progress of each child, providing feedback to parents and team members regularly.
*Create a safe and inclusive environment that encourages exploration and learning through play.
Experience
*Proven experience in special education or related fields is essential.
*Experience working with children diagnosed with autism or other developmental disorders is an advantage.
*Strong communication skills are necessary for effectively interacting with children, parents, and colleagues.
*A passion for educating and supporting children in their growth and development is crucial for success in this role.
*Familiarity with Teach Teach training and willingness to complete course
