Key Responsibilities:
*Perform routine and complex microtomy tasks, cutting tissue samples for histological examination.
*Operate and maintain microtome equipment to ensure precise and accurate sectioning.
*Process tissue specimens according to histopathology protocols.
*Support the preparation of slides for examination by pathologists.
*Ensure quality control measures are maintained in all aspects of tissue processing.
*Work effectively within a team to meet departmental goals and deadlines.
Essential Requirements:
*Proven experience in microtomy within a histopathology setting.
*Band 4 or equivalent experience in histology or related field.
*Strong knowledge of histology procedures, including specimen preparation and tissue processing.
*Ability to work efficiently and independently under pressure.
*Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
*Up-to-date knowledge of health and safety regulations in a laboratory setting.
*Strong communication and organizational skills.
Desirable Skills:
*Experience with other histopathology techniques and laboratory equipment.
*Previous experience working in NHS or similar healthcare settings.
