Job Description:
Role Overview We are seeking an experienced Management Accountant to join a dynamic Further Education College in East London on a temporary basis. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in delivering accurate and insightful financial information to support the college’s operations and strategic decision-making. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong technical skills and sector experience to make an immediate impact.
Key Responsibilities * Financial Reporting
*Prepare monthly management accounts, including variance analysis.
*Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial planning.
*Support the preparation of year-end financial statements in accordance with relevant accounting standards.

* Budget Management
*Work closely with department heads to monitor and manage budgets.
*Provide financial advice and support to stakeholders to ensure effective budgetary control.

* Data Analysis and Insight
*Analyze financial data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities.
*Deliver insightful reporting to inform senior management decision-making.

* Compliance and Governance
*Ensure compliance with all relevant financial regulations and policies, including FE sector requirements.
*Support internal and external audits by preparing necessary documentation and responding to queries.

* Process Improvement
*Identify and implement improvements in financial processes to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
*Support the development and use of financial systems, ensuring they meet organizational needs.

Candidate Profile * Qualifications:
*Fully or part-qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent).

* Experience:
*Proven experience in management accounting, ideally within the Further Education or public sector.
*Strong understanding of FE funding streams and financial regulations is desirable.

* Skills:
*Advanced Excel and proficiency with financial systems.
*Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
*Ability to build effective working relationships across departments.

* Personal Attributes:
*Organized, proactive, and able to work independently.
*Adaptable and able to deliver under tight deadlines.
