The Opportunity
Stantec’s Environmental Team is working closely with our clients to develop innovative, sustainable and efficient solutions to their needs by applying genuinely new ways of working. We are looking for driven individuals who think differently and love to challenge conventional thinking to join us in a growing, collaborative team of likeminded engineers working to meet the unprecedented industry-wide efficiency and environmental challenges.
Currently we are seeking a Arboriculture Consultant join our growing team and will consider applications for the following offices, Reading, London, Brighton, Bristol or High Wycombe. We are excited by the potential growth prospects and this is a good opportunity to join an ambitious team that will provide you with plenty of scope for career progression in the coming years.
Your main focus will be on infrastructure projects including highways, energy and water sector nationwide, with an initial focus in the south. You will be a member of our environmental team, reporting to our head of arboriculture, supporting the design and build of infrastructure projects, working with our town planners, environmental consultants, ecologists, landscape architects and others.
A typical week may see you working on planning applications and on projects that benefit from permitted development rights. You will be able to undertake BS5837 tree surveys, produce arboriculture impact assessments, hedgerow surveys, coordinate TPO applications, lead in discussions with tree officers and affected stakeholders, support a design team on arboriculture matters (including helping to design out impacts on trees where possible); and deal with contractors and advise on tree protection and mitigation on building sites.

About You You will have a degree or minimum Level 3 Arboriculture qualification i.e. HNC Arb, AA Tech Cert, NDip Arb
*Have experience delivering comprehensive arboricultural reports within tight time-frames to meet client requirements
*Have a working understanding of undertaking tree surveys in accordance with BS 5837:2012;
*Communication skills and an eye for innovation and pragmatism in a design and build environment;
*Familiarity with CAD and digital survey hardware and software, including GIS;
*Proactive, with an ability to manage arboricultural sub-contractors where required;
