Job Description:
A prestigious university in East London is seeking an experienced Fire Safety Manager for a 6-12 month interim assignment. This critical role ensures the safety and compliance of the university’s diverse estate while driving operational improvements and promoting a culture of fire safety excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Fire Safety Management:
*Develop and enhance fire safety policies tailored to a large educational estate.
*Ensure compliance with regulations, including the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005.
*Provide strategic input for projects, renovations, and operational planning.
Fire Risk Assessments & Compliance:
*Conduct comprehensive fire risk assessments to identify and mitigate risks.
*Collaborate with external regulators to meet and exceed compliance expectations.
Operational Improvements:
*Streamline processes to enhance fire safety management efficiency.
*Oversee maintenance and upgrades of fire alarms, extinguishers, and other systems.
*Integrate fire safety measures with facilities and construction projects.
Training & Leadership:
*Deliver tailored fire safety training programs for staff and students.
*Lead fire drills and evacuation exercises, implementing lessons learned.
Incident Management & Reporting:
*Act as the lead for fire-related incidents, ensuring swift resolution.
*Maintain accurate records and produce performance reports, highlighting areas for improvement.
What We’re Looking For:
*Experience: Proven record in fire safety management within complex estates (e.g., education, healthcare, public spaces).
*Desirable Qualifications: NEBOSH Fire Safety Certificate, NEBOSH Diploma, or IFE Membership.
*Knowledge: Strong grasp of fire safety legislation and risk assessment methodologies.
*Skills: Leadership, communication, and organizational abilities to engage across all levels.
*Availability: Commitment to a 6-12 month interim position, with on-site presence.
