Job Description:
1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant | Immediate Paid Trials | South East London
Role: 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant
Start: ASAP
Contract: Full time
Location: SE2, South East London
School Type: Primary
Rate: £90-£103 per day
We are seeking a caring and committed 1:1 Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant (SEN TA) to work at one of our leading primary schools in South East London.
The successful 1:1 SEN TA will primarily support a Year 3 child with an Education, Health, and Care Plan (EHCP). This 1:1 SEN TA role will require you to collaborate with the classroom teacher and other education staff, providing outstanding support and initiative.
Key Responsibilities:
*Provide tailored 1:1 support for a child with specific learning needs, in line with their EHCP.
*Assist with classroom tasks, ensuring the child remains engaged and supported during lessons.
*Work closely with the class teacher and SENCo to monitor and report on the child’s progress.
*Adapt learning materials to support the child’s development and ensure inclusion in all activities.
*During the child’s absence (outside of 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM), assist the Year 3 teaching team with general classroom duties, group work, and other tasks as needed.
The ideal candidate will have:
*Experience working with children, particularly those with special educational needs (SEN).
*Patience, empathy, and a passion for supporting the educational and emotional development of young learners.
*Experience working with students with behavioural challenges, preferably in an educational or special education setting.
*Knowledge of behaviour management techniques, positive reinforcement strategies, and de-escalation methods.
*Ability to establish rapport and build positive relationships with students, demonstrating patience, empathy, and understanding.
*Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively collaborate with teachers, parents, and other professionals.
*Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to remain calm and composed in challenging situations.
*Flexibility and adaptability to meet the changing needs of students and the educational environment.
