What will your typical day look like? Different that’s for sure…
Atom’s Technology team is made up of: Engineering, Delivery, Change, Service Management, Security & Architecture. These capabilities are distributed across multiple cross-functional product teams known as Value Streams. They design, develop and deliver a customer journey that is secure, performant and user-friendly, ensuring we remain a leader in the fintech space.
Engineering can be further broken down into Test, Platform, Frontend and Backend disciplines. Android development is recognised as a sub-discipline of Frontend Engineering, with a well-established community of engineers. This role will be activity managed within the Savings Value Stream and coached by the Android Engineering Lead.
As an Android Engineer at Atom, you’ll be responsible for developing cutting-edge mobile applications using Kotlin. You’ll work on a variety of features, from designing intuitive user interfaces to optimizing app performance. You’ll collaborate with a talented team of engineers, contribute to technical decisions, and lead initiatives to improve our development processes.
You will also:
*Develop Atom’s Mobile Banking Application using Kotlin and other tools.
*Take ownership of multiple features, including business deliverables and technical improvements.
*Collaborate with other Android Engineers on large, high impact tasks.
*Implement coding standards and fundamental best practices, set by the Android guild.
*Provide technical input in value stream meetings, including planning, stand-ups and retrospectives.
*Proactively issue feedback to delivery teams on items like technical requirements and impact of new work.
What do we need from you?
*A strong understanding of Android development, including associated tooling and frameworks.
*Strong working knowledge of Kotlin.
*Conversant with SOLID and OOP principles and Software Design Patterns as approaches
*Experience of RESTful API integration, securing applications and secure messaging using a variety of methods
*Clear communicator both written and verbally
*Familiar with Android Studio, Git, and CI/CD processes
*Good knowledge of Android libraries and APIs
*Good knowledge on how to write unit and UI tests (using for example Mockito/Mockk and Espresso)
*Good knowledge about how to write UI elements using xml layouts
*Good knowledge of dependency injection and app modularisation
*Experience with working with shared codebase with other developers
