Our vast direct-to-store (DTS) distribution network, comprising of 17 depots nationwide, enables us to make over 10,400 daily deliveries of our own chilled and frozen produce and that of third parties.
What you’ll be doing
To lead and direct a depot team to ensure operational standards are met and depots are developed to meet current and future business objectives
*Provide leadership and direction to the team to ensure that they are engaged, focused, developed and delivering to their potential
*Review labour requirements and availability to deploy cost effective plans, ensuring resource availability and capability aligns with business operating needs
*Direct daily operational practices to ensure that safety and compliance with group policy are critical priorities
*Ensure the facilities and all components and assets are maintained to ensure operational safety and efficiency
*Monitor the utilisation and maintenance of the transport fleet to ensure adherence to all agreed internal and legal standards
*Take first line management responsibility for all people management issues on site
*Oversee the execution of operational plans which control spend and ensure the correct and timely delivery of customer orders
*Ensure the team is adopting appropriate administrative procedures and reporting all necessary information to meet audit standards
*Monitor key performance indicator and budget performance to identify and implement continuous improvement programmes to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of pick, packing and loading of vehicles
*Provide practical support to the commercial team in building and sustaining commercial relationships and preparing the depot for changes in customer requirements
*Lead the implementation of local capex projects to ensure that new equipment or functionality is delivered on time and embedded in day to day working practices

*CPC preferred
*Experience in managing safety in functional area e.g., Highfield Level 2
*Basic food hygiene certificate e.g., Highfield Level 1
*Understand the best practice processes for functional areas, like managing a transport operation
*Experience of managing budgets
*Understanding of Lean to identify and implement business improvement programmes
*Able to use Microsoft Office suite and other IT tools to record and report effectively
*Use of sector specific electronic management tools e.g., ISOTRAK and handheld technology
