Transport Planner
Heavy Haulage
Skelmersdale, Lancashire
£30,000 - £35,000 (flexible depending on experience)
I’m currently recruiting for an experienced Transport Planner to join a large transport business who specialise within Abnormal Loads & General haulage.
They are seeking a Transport Planner to support the current transport operation in the management of the compliance & planning.
The Candidate;
*Transport route planning experience
*Previous experience of working in a General Haulage or Abnormal Loads operation
*Experience of working within a busy transport office
*Have a dynamic approach to solve resource and planning resolution/ modifications
*ICT literate
*Have a basic understanding of Large Goods Vehicles (weights, dimensions and terminology)
*Proficient in the use of tachographs and TMS (Transport Management Systems)
*A good geographic knowledge
*A proactive approach to continual professional development
*An excellent team player, able to work on own initiative and make decisions
*A strong work ethic with the ability to focus, while contributing to a collaborative and positive team dynamic
*An effective communicator
*Ability to question, challenge and improve upon existing processes
Duties and Responsibilities;
*Plan heavy haulage operations manually, ensuring all logistical details are accounted for
*Provide the communication link between customers and drivers
*Supervising and managing driver workloads
*Ensure compliance with tachograph regulations and monitor your driver’s daily activities in line with the Working Time Directive and Driving hours
*Coordinate with councils, police, and drivers to organize special orders requiring police escorts
*Plan operations up to 2 weeks in advance, ensuring the availability of police escorts and other required resources
*Keeping up to date with transport issues and dealing with changes to the days schedules
*Pre-brief and de-brief drivers on their daily runs throughout the day
*Manage high-value and complex heavy haulage projects, ensuring all logistics are handled professionally and safely
