Job Description:
We Do Group are delighted to be supporting a large SME in Guildford, recruiting a Payroll Manager on a 12 month FTC for an 800 person payroll.
The role is a standalone position acting as the key payroll contact for the business, working alongside a payroll bureau who manage all of the processing.
The successful Payroll Manager will have a track history of working in-house payroll positions, having used an outsourced bureau, as well as strong communication skills and a good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
Hybrid: 50/50 - office/home
Duration: 12 months
Salary: £60,000 - £70,000
The Role
*Oversee the end-to-end processing of outsourced monthly payroll, ensuring accuracy and compliance with established procedures and deadlines
*Ensure timely payments to employees and HMRC, maintaining adherence to all regulatory deadlines
*Generate detailed monthly payroll reports, including data validation, month-on-month variance analysis, and expenditure breakdowns using Excel
*Administer the group pension scheme, managing monthly returns, annual reviews, and reconciliation processes
*Submit accurate annual returns to HMRC (eg, P14/P60s, P11Ds) and oversee PAYE settlement agreement submissions within required timeframes
*Serve as the primary contact for employee payroll queries, providing expert guidance and resolutions
*Manage the processing of employee expenses and ensure compliance with expense procedures and deadlines
*Deliver regular reporting on expenses, including outstanding items and detailed analysis, using Excel
*Prepare payroll journals and assist with monthly reconciliation processes
*Provide leadership and development to the Payroll Admin Assistant, including weekly one-to-one meetings, performance monitoring, and training
*Collaborate with HR on annual salary and bonus reviews and handle payroll-related aspects of international employee liabilities
*Process quarterly sales commission calculations and address audit queries efficiently
*Build strong working relationships with internal teams and external partners to deliver exceptional customer service
*Ad hoc tasks as required
Your Profile
*Payroll Qualified - Chartered Institute of Payroll Professionals (CIPP)
*Experience of working as an in-house Payroll Manager/sole payroll, working with an outsourced bureau
*Effective communicator - written & verbal
*Good working knowledge of MS Excel
