Job Description:
Finance Assistant *Job Type: Full-time, 37 hrs per week, 3 months temp (potential for longer)
*Location: Newcastle (hybrid, 1 day in the office per week)
*Salary: £12.50-14p/h, depending on experience
My client is seeking a diligent Finance assistant to join their team on a temporary basis of 2-3 months with potential for longer. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining our accounting records, ensuring financial documentation is up to date, and performing book-keeping tasks up to the trial balance stage. This role is integral to the smooth financial operation of their charity.
Day-to-day of the role: *Maintain manual and computerised accounting records in an orderly manner, ensuring information is provided within the normal monthly accounting periods.
*Communicate effectively with both internal and external parties to obtain timely and accurate information.
*Handle all finance-related documentation, including payroll, PAYE, VAT, and other statutory returns.
*Issue and code sales invoices, as well as undertake debt chasing activities.
*Process and match purchase invoices to orders, check and process staff expense claims, and manage petty cash claims.
*Prepare weekly creditor payment runs and process the monthly payroll.
*Perform general financial administrative tasks as required.
*Take on additional responsibilities as agreed upon from time to time.
Required Skills & Qualifications: *Proven experience in bookkeeping and financial administration.
*Strong understanding of payroll processes, PAYE, VAT, and other statutory returns.
*Proficiency in maintaining manual and computerised accounting records.
*Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
*Ability to communicate effectively with a range of stakeholders.
*Experience with accounting software and Excel.
