Job Description:
Occupational Therapist *Annual Salary: £36,571 - £44,145 plus up to £3,000 market supplement
*Location: Morden Surrey
Join our dedicated therapy department at South Thames College Group, where we embrace a neurodiversity affirming, strength-based approach. We are seeking an Occupational Therapist who is committed to supporting young adults to achieve their full potential through tailored educational and therapeutic interventions.
Day-to-day of the role: *Conduct holistic occupational therapy assessments and person-centred interventions to support learners in accessing and developing functional skills across the curriculum.
*Understand and address the impact of sensory differences on a person’s function and behaviour.
*Facilitate the transfer of skills developed at college to home and community/work settings.
*Provide support and training to staff on implementing occupational therapy recommendations.
*Collaborate with learners’ families, carers, and community health and social care teams to enhance therapeutic outcomes.
*Plan and implement occupational therapy and/or multi-disciplinary group work, such as activities of daily living and zones of regulation.
*Assess and advise on the suitability of work placement opportunities and necessary adaptations.
*Support the implementation of transition plans for students entering and leaving the college.
*Participate in Educational Health Care Plans (EHCP) reviews and provide feedback on learners’ progress and future goals.
Required Skills & Qualifications: *Degree in Occupational Therapy and registration with the Health Professions Council.
*Experience in a similar role, preferably within an educational setting.
*Strong understanding of neurodiversity and experience with sensory processing challenges.
*Excellent communication skills, with proficiency in alternative communication methods such as Makaton.
*Ability to work collaboratively with educational staff, healthcare professionals, and families.
*Commitment to continuous professional development and adherence to the Royal College of Occupational Therapists’ Code of Ethics.
