Job Description:
This is a superb opportunity to further your career working for one of the world’s largest insurance brokers, who are well-established in the local business community and look after many of the region’s largest and best-known companies. This firm has a fine reputation for offering bespoke training and development, as well as providing a myriad of opportunities for progression.
Here, you will be responsible for the day to management of a team of circa 6 Account Handlers, each typically handing cases that generate in excess of £10,000 fee income. Clients will be from a range of industry sectors, both blue and white collar, and some will have complex global exposures. Duties will include, but by no means be limited to:
*Holding regular 1-2-1’s, to ensure that colleagues remain engaged with the business objectives, whilst progressing in line with their own ambitions.
*Resource planning and allocating workloads to ensure that Account Handlers are able to provide a high level of service to colleagues and clients alike.
*Auditing work from a quality and compliance perspective, drawing up action plans to remedy any issues identified.
*Helping with the technical training and development of the team, as well answering any ad-hoc questions that may arise.
*Acting as a conduit between the Account Handling Team and all stakeholders, both internal and external.
*Promoting a ’growth mindset’ within the team, where all colleagues are alert to opportunities to cross and upsell ancillary covers.
*Collating and analysing management information, and feeding this back to a variety of stakeholders.
*Promoting a culture of internal networking within the team, where colleagues understand the full suite of services on offer to clients.
*Helping manage relationships with insurers, and ensuring colleagues understand different underwriters appetites for specific risks.
*As a senior member of the team, being involved in a variety of exciting projects in the business.
*Personally handling your own portfolio of corporate accounts.
It is essential that you have a good understanding of all common commercial covers, including having handled more complex business that generates brokerage income in excess of £10,000. Ideally, you will currently be working in a managerial capacity, although we certainly welcome applications from outstanding candidates who have worked as a ’Senior Account Handler’ (or similar), and are confident in their ability to step up into a full-time, managerial role. You must have excellent leadership skills and the ability to secure buy-in from a variety of stakeholders such as Account Handlers, Account Executives, your peers on the management team, and senior personnel at corporate clients. You must also have excellent internal networking skills, and be able to build meaningful rapport with clients in specialist teams based across the country and, occasionally, overseas.
In return, you will receive a generous basic salary, and a market-leading ’flexible benefits’ package that can be tweaked to your own personal circumstances. You will be welcome to work from home several days per week, if desired.
