Job Description:
A big-hitting global legal firm is looking for a commercial and ambitious individual with a proven track record working as a business development professional to join its dynamic business development team. You will take responsibility for the provision of strategic business development support in a dual practice and industry-focused role supporting the firm’s market-leading London asset finance practice and driving forward BD efforts for the global transportation sector group.
The firm’s highly regarded business development, marketing and communications team is integral to the setting and achievement of the firm’s business objectives, which includes supporting partners and associates in their pursuit of becoming clients’ trusted advisers, building and maintaining long-lasting, deep institutional client relationships, winning new clients, increasing the visibility of the firm globally and positioning the firm as the thought leader and most advanced law firm among the global elite. The function works as one team across the globe with very close collaboration between the central groups, such as communications and events, and the professionals working in local offices, practice groups, sectors and clients. The role will require a ’hands-on’ approach to marketing and BD and a deftness in achieving results through detailed work and the ability to build relationships and influence will be essential to success. Keeping current on commercial and legal issues, you will work closely with the partners to develop and deliver a global marketing and business development strategy and provide focus to the delivery and direction of BD activities, playing a key influencing role with asset finance and transportation sector partners on business development activities and projects, including client targeting and pipeline management. Main duties will include leading the preparation of proposals, pitch presentations and credentials statements for London-based asset finance opportunities and multi-jurisdictional opportunities with a UK nexus, coordinating client targeting efforts, assisting in the management of strategic client relationships across both the asset finance practice and the transportation sector and undertaking research to support business planning activities and key proposals. On the marketing side, you will coordinate practical marketing support for profile-raising activities, such as speaking at conferences, thought leadership and events, webinars and hospitality. The Business Development Manager will also develop and execute integrated campaigns, oversee internal communications and lead on directory and award submissions.
Proactive, creative and tenacious, the ideal candidate will have proven relevant business development and marketing experience gained within a professional services organisation, to include demonstrable success in CRM and business analysis and desk research experience. With a high attention to detail and strong client focus, the Business Development Manager will enjoy working to deadlines and delivering under pressure, and will require excellent communication and persuasion skills in order to motivate fee-earners to deliver business goals. A genuine interest and enthusiasm to develop an in-depth understanding of the asset finance practice and transportation sector will also be essential.
