Job Description:
Damp & Mould Operative *Annual Salary: £38,000
*Location: SE1, London and multiple locations
*Job Type: Permanent
Join our dedicated team as a Damp & Mould Operative, where you will play a crucial role in maintaining the quality and safety of properties across South London. This position offers the opportunity to contribute significantly to our vision of providing ’Homes to be proud of and services you can trust’. You will work across two teams, ensuring a zero-tolerance approach to damp and mould, enhancing the living conditions for our residents.
Day-to-day of the role: *Undertake repairs and associated work within allocated areas of Wandle Properties, ensuring safety, cost-effectiveness, and efficiency.
*Identify the causes of faults and specify the correct remedial work needed.
*Ensure work is completed correctly on the first attempt and that customers are satisfied with the service.
*Manage and maintain the safekeeping of vehicles, plant, tools, and materials.
*Make informed decisions on repair and replacement based on our repairs policy and standards.
*Arrange and coordinate with customers and area schedulers or supervisors for necessary follow-on work.
*Dispose of materials and debris responsibly, leaving sites clean and tidy.
*Diagnose faults, including different types of damp and mould, and decide on appropriate remedial actions.
*Perform mould wash treatments, decorative works, and install or assess ventilation units among other duties.
Required Skills & Qualifications: *Trade apprenticeship and/or formal qualification such as City & Guilds (ideally advanced), NVQ level 2 or equivalent.
*Desirable: Additional training to NVQ level 3.
*Current UK driving licence.
*Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a professional tradesman with related ancillary work.
*Capable of working at heights and using ladders safely.
*Demonstrated ability to work calmly and systematically under pressure.
*Strong knowledge of health & safety requirements and experience with safe working systems.
*Excellent problem-solving skills to make correct decisions.
