Job Description:
Are you passionate about protecting the environment and ensuring compliance with critical regulations? Join our dedicated team as an Environmental Regulatory Specialist (Air/Waste), where you’ll play a pivotal role in ensuring our company meets the statutory requirements of environmental permits under the Environmental Permitting Regulations. Your expertise will help safeguard emissions to air, water, and land while shaping a sustainable future.
What you will be doing as an Environmental Regulatory Specialist (Air/Waste): *Act as the technical subject matter expert on monitoring and reporting requirements for Air and Waste Permits, supporting 25 Sludge Treatment Centres to comply with the Industrial Emissions Directive (IED).
*Provide expert advice and coordinate efforts to ensure the business meets regulatory monitoring, reporting, and notification requirements on time and accurately.
*Work closely with operational teams and external partners to facilitate regulatory submissions, including Quarterly, Six-Monthly, and Annual Reporting, and Pollution Inventory.
*Support permitting projects by developing processes, action trackers, and internal reports to maintain compliance and track progress.
*Offer guidance to internal stakeholders and engineering teams regarding environmental permits, including advising on technical outputs and supporting applications for new licenses.
*Ensure timely responses to regulator requests for information related to permits or applications, working collaboratively across teams to deliver high-quality submissions.
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM, with flexibility to start earlier or later and adjust end times. This is a hybrid role, with a minimum of 1 day in the office and occasional travel to operational sites to support compliance activities.
Base Location: Reading, Clearwater Court.
What you should bring to the role *A degree (or equivalent) in a scientific or environmental discipline.
*Experience in managing environmental data and preparing regulatory reports.
*Demonstrated experience in stakeholder engagement and regulatory compliance.
*Practical understanding of environmental permitting and the associated Environment Agency guidance (desirable).
*Technical expertise in emissions monitoring (air, odor management, bioaerosols) and wastewater characterization (desirable).
