Job Description:
Islington Council are currently looking for a Mechanical Inspector to join.
*£45hr.
*Inside IR35.
*Hybrid Working.
Key Responsibilities:
*Inspect, monitor, and ensure the quality and compliance of mechanical installations, including:
*Heating systems upgrades. Heat interface units (HIUs).
*Heat metering systems.
*Gas boiler replacements.
*Low carbon solutions such as heat pumps and related technologies.
*Verify that all work aligns with technical specifications, industry standards, and safety regulations.
*Liaise with contractors, engineers, and project managers to ensure seamless delivery of projects within the agreed timeframe and budget.
*Identify and report defects, ensuring corrective actions are taken.
*Conduct regular site visits and prepare detailed inspection reports.
*Support the integration of innovative, sustainable technologies aimed at reducing carbon emissions. Key Skills and Experience Required:
*Proven experience in mechanical inspections within a capital works or retrofit programme.
*Strong knowledge of heating systems, including gas boilers, HIUs, and heat pumps.
*Familiarity with low-carbon technologies and sustainable building practices.
*Excellent understanding of compliance standards, building regulations, and health & safety requirements. Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
*Relevant qualifications in mechanical engineering or a related field.
Desirable:
*Experience with heat metering systems.
*Knowledge of renewable energy solutions and emerging low-carbon technologies.
