Job Description:
Buyer required for a manufacturer of engineering equipment based around the Liverpool area. Our client are a forward thinking and innovative business within the manufacturing & engineering sectors and this is a fantastic opportunity progress your career within a company that put their staff’s development first. The Engineering Buyer will oversee the procurement of goods, materials, and services to support the company’s operational needs, focusing on cost efficiency, quality standards, and timely delivery. This role includes assisting the Procurement Manager in managing daily procurement operations to ensure seamless supply chain performance.
Engineering Buyer Job Overview Supply Chain Management:
*Monitor and enhance supply chain performance in collaboration with the Operations and Quality teams to meet performance standards.
*Procure a combination of custom-engineered and standard goods using Just-In-Time principles.
Supplier Coordination:
*Identify suitable suppliers during the RFQ process, leveraging technical expertise to ensure compliance with PSL drawings and specifications.
*Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to balance cost and quality while maximizing market opportunities.
*Proactively identify and mitigate risks to minimize project delays.
Technical Expertise:
*Provide technical guidance internally and externally to ensure alignment with manufacturing requirements and quality expectations.
*Use technical insight to support accurate supplier selection and effective problem-solving.
Internal Collaboration:
*Work closely with departments such as Goods In, Engineering, Operations, and Sales to support seamless workflows.
*Provide progress updates and supply chain feedback to internal stakeholders.
System and Process Management:
*Manage procurement operations through Sage 200 software.
*Handle MRP and EBQ processes to optimize inventory and supply management.
*Create and oversee purchase orders, ensuring accuracy in supplier acknowledgment details against project budgets and timelines.
Continuous Improvement:
*Drive ongoing improvements within Procurement and Goods In processes.
Support the Procurement Manager in achieving departmental goals.
Engineering Buyer Job Requirements *Significant experience in Procurement and Supply Chain Management at a senior level.
*A CIPS qualification is desirable but not essential.
*Prior experience in the Engineering sector is highly advantageous.
*Proficiency in supply chain analysis and management principles.
*Strong commercial acumen with excellent negotiation skills.
*Effective communicator with the ability to collaborate across teams and external partners.
Engineering Buyer Salary & Benefits *Monday Friday (37.5 hr working week)
*Salary dependent on experience likely £35k-£38k
*Office based with WFH days (2 days per week) and occasional travel to suppliers across the UK and Europe
*25 days holiday + bank holidays
*Death in Service
