Job Description:
Inclusion Assistant - West Sussex Coast
Engage Education are currently working in partnership with a local SEND school in West Sussex on an exciting new Inclusion SEND TA position specifically to support learners with SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) needs along the West Sussex coast - from Lancing across to Chichester.
Starting immediately, the school is looking for an experienced Teaching Assistant to join them on a long-term basis. If successful during the probationary period, this will lead into a permanent role.
This particular provision is a Pupil Referral Unit, meaning they cater to children with Social and Emotional Mental Health needs, which can include children who have experienced trauma and/or have behavioural needs. However, for this particular role it will be supporting these children on a 1:1 basis within different mainstream settings - which is why for this role the ideal candidate must have previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant or similar role, supporting children with SEND needs. You will work as part of the Inclusion Team to provide support to children and staff in mainstream schools to develop skills and strategies in order to avoid permanent exclusions.
This role is a peripatetic role - meaning you will be based across multiple mainstream sites along the West Sussex coast. Therefore, the ideal candidate will have to be a driver with access to their own vehicle - along with having business insurance or be willing to add this to their current insurance policy. Your base will be their Lancing site and from there you will be sent to different mainstream sites from Lancing across to Chichester. All mileage expenses will be covered.
Having previous experience working with people with challenging behaviours - both children and adults - will be a strong advantage! Anyone from a care, support worker or youth worker is encouraged to apply.
Your Role:
* Supporting learners on a one-to-one basis often with complex behavioural needs
* Providing feedback to teachers and parents
What you will need:
* A range of behaviour management techniques
* To have worked with learners with a range of needs
* The ability to engage a young person in learning through a range of methods
* To be able to commit to working at the school for long period of time
* A resilient attitude
* The ideal candidate must have achieved a Grade C or equivalent in GCSE Maths and English - and be able to evidence this.
Why choose Engage Education?
* We pay all our staff in line with the Agency Worker Regulations, meaning your pay will be equal to that of a permanent employee
* You will benefit from your own dedicated Engage consultant who will provide ongoing support and guidance
* You will be invited to our wide range of continued professional development (CPD) training sessions, provided by our in-house team of experienced senior leaders. These are completely free to attend!
* Do you have friends or colleagues looking for work? Invite friends to join us & earn a £50 Amazon voucher when they work 5 days! You can refer friends from the UK or from overseas and you can refer as many people as you like! The sky’s the limit…
