Job Description:
Our Consultancy client are seeking an experienced Data Scientist with expertise in Generative AI to join our team on a 6-month contract. The London based consultancy have an end client in the legal and professional sector and require a Data Scientist to analyse legal and contract data. You will develop and implement AI models tailored to extract insights from large volumes of complex legal documents, enabling data-driven decision-making and enhancing contract management processes.
The role is Outside IR35 and is fully remote.
Senior Data Scientist key responsibilities:
*Collaborate with stakeholders to understand legal data requirements and project objectives.
*Design and implement Generative AI solutions for analyzing and generating insights from legal and contractual data.
*Build, fine-tune, and deploy machine learning models, including Large Language Models (LLMs) and other Generative AI frameworks.
*Develop tools for document parsing, semantic search, and contract clause extraction.
*Apply NLP techniques to process and structure unstructured legal text data.
*Ensure scalability, accuracy, and ethical use of AI models in a sensitive domain.
*Document processes, methodologies, and results for both technical and non-technical audiences.
*Work closely with cross-functional teams, including legal experts, data engineers, and project managers.
Senior Data Scientist essential skills:
*Advanced degree (MSc/PhD) in a relevant field (e.g., Computer Science, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Applied Mathematics).
*Proven experience in Generative AI, including hands-on work with LLMs (e.g., GPT, BERT, T5).
*Expertise in Natural Language Processing (NLP) and understanding of legal data structures.
*Proficiency in programming languages such as Python (preferred) or R, with experience in AI/ML libraries (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, Hugging Face).
*Familiarity with legal datasets and tools (e.g., LexNLP, spaCy for legal text).
*Strong understanding of data preprocessing, feature engineering, and model evaluation techniques.
*Ability to handle sensitive data with a focus on compliance and data privacy standards.
Senior Data Scientist desirable skills:
*Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) for model deployment.
*Prior experience working in or consulting for the legal sector is useful.
*Familiarity with prompt engineering and fine-tuning for domain-specific applications.
