Job Description:
We are seeking a compassionate and skilled SEN PE Instructor to join one of our SEN schools in central Birmingham to help their students achieve their physical and personal potential.
Key Responsibilities:
*Design and deliver tailored PE lessons that accommodate the diverse physical, emotional, and cognitive needs of students with Special Educational Needs (SEN).
*Work closely with the SEN Coordinator and other staff to develop individualised education plans (IEPs) that include physical education goals.
*Use adaptive physical education techniques and equipment to ensure all students can participate in and benefit from PE activities.
*Create a safe, positive, and inclusive environment that encourages students of all abilities to engage in physical activity.
*Monitor and assess students’ progress, providing regular feedback to students, parents, and relevant staff.
*Collaborate with teaching assistants, therapists, and other support staff to effectively deliver PE lessons.
*Organize and oversee inclusive sports events, extracurricular activities, and fitness programs that promote physical activity among SEN students.
*Maintain and manage specialized PE equipment, ensuring it is used safely and effectively.
*Stay current with best practices in SEN and adaptive physical education through continuous professional development.
Qualifications:
*Bachelor’s degree in physical education, [Relevant teaching credential/certification in SEN or PE preferred.]
*Experience working with students with SEN, particularly in a physical education setting.
*Knowledge of adaptive physical education strategies and the ability to modify activities to suit various needs.
*Excellent communication, patience, and interpersonal skills.
*Strong organizational skills and the ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
*CPR and First Aid certification preferred.
*Passion for promoting physical activity and well-being among all students.
