Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced Optical Systems Engineer to join a dynamic and growing team working with some of the most exciting players in the UK’s space industry. With a strong focus on advanced space sensors for exploration missions and space-based communication technology, this role offers the opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge projects and play a pivotal role in shaping the future of space exploration.
Key Responsibilities:
*Act as the technical interface to customers and subcontractors.
*Identify and define customer needs and derive engineering requirements.
*Develop and manage system budgets (e.g., power, mass).
*Design and analyse innovative engineering solutions, ensuring performance alignment.
*Supervise multidisciplinary engineering teams during design, integration, and testing phases.
*Plan and execute test campaigns, troubleshoot issues, and produce detailed test reports.
Skills:
*Previous commercial experience in the design, manufacture, and testing of complex systems.
*Expertise in optics, optical sensors, and opto-mechanical assemblies.
*Proficient in formal configuration control methods and environmental testing standards.
*Familiar with ECSS standards and space-environment system design.
*Good knowledge of Python, Visual Basic, MATLAB, C, or C++.
*Hands-on experience in manufacturing, assembly, and testing.
