Job Description:
Primary Engineer
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Primary Engineer to join our team on a contract basis. This role is focused on National Grid projects, requiring substantial hands-on design work. The successful candidate will have mid-senior level experience and a strong background in primary substation design. This is an exciting opportunity for a professional looking to contribute to critical infrastructure projects with a reputable organisation.
Key Responsibilities:
*Develop detailed designs for primary substations, ensuring compliance with National Grid standards and regulations.
*Perform hands-on design tasks including but not limited to, layout design, equipment specification, and system integration.
*Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to deliver high-quality engineering solutions.
*Conduct site surveys and assessments as needed to inform design processes.
*Provide technical support and expertise during the construction and commissioning phases.
*Ensure that project timelines are met and that deliverables are completed to the highest standards.
*Liaise with clients, stakeholders, and contractors to ensure clear communication and alignment on project objectives.
*Prepare and review technical documentation, including design reports, drawings, and specifications.
*Identify and mitigate potential risks associated with design and implementation phases.
Experience:
*Proven experience working on National Grid projects is essential.
*Extensive experience in primary substation design, including hands-on design work.
*Strong understanding of National Grid standards and regulations.
*Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
*Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
*Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
*Proficiency in relevant design software and tools.
*Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
