Location: Quedgeley
Salary: £40,000 - £45,000
Our client, a well-established business with over 40 years of industry experience, is seeking a dynamic Senior Buyer to join their expanding team on a full-time, permanent basis. This is an exciting opportunity to play a pivotal role in a fast-paced and growing company.
About the Role
As a Senior Buyer, you will lead procurement activities, focusing on strategic sourcing, supplier relationship management, and stock control. Your expertise will directly impact the company’s operational success by ensuring optimal purchasing performance and supply chain efficiency.
This role is ideal for an experienced Buyer from an FMCG or distribution background who is ready to take on greater responsibility and drive meaningful business improvements.
Key Responsibilities
Procurement & Supplier Management
*Source goods and services at the best value and quality.
*Ensure timely delivery to support business operations.
*Maintain accurate supplier and product records in the ERP system (OrderWise).
*Foster strong relationships with key suppliers to enhance efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
*Identify new suppliers and support product introduction initiatives.
*Conduct supplier reviews and performance evaluations.
Stock Control
*Oversee stock replenishment and inventory management.
*Conduct regular stock checks and product location audits.
*Manage stock cleanse lists to reduce obsolete inventory.
*Support annual and rolling stock counts with the warehouse team.
Operational Efficiency & Collaboration
*Work closely with Customer Service, Accounts, Warehouse, and Production teams to ensure seamless procurement operations.
*Provide order progress updates to the Sales team.
*Identify and implement process improvements to streamline production and reduce waste.
Required Skills & Experience
*Proven procurement experience, preferably in an FMCG or distribution environment.
*CIPS qualification (preferred but not essential).
*Strong negotiation and supplier management skills.
*Familiarity with ERP systems and stock control processes.
*Proficiency in Office 365 and MS Outlook.
*Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
*Strong communication and team collaboration abilities.
