Job Description:
What’s involved with this role: Interim Property Solicitor - Legal ServicesReference no: Newcastle Pay Rate:£22.51 per hour PAYE37 Monday – Friday, normal working hoursThis opening assignment is for 3-4 monthsCity: SANDYFORDMostly WFH but potential need to attend Court hearings in person too.Key Responsibilities: *To provide timely, accurate legal advice to Directorates, Committees and Elected Members .
*Draft legal documentation, correspondence and reports.
*Advocate before the Courts, Inquiries and Tribunals as required
*Undertake high level commercial conveyancing work
*Participate in corporate or directorate projects, assignments or initiatives as required.
*Contribute to the development of corporate policy and strategy.
*Support the professional development of staff through coaching and mentoring as appropriate.
*Develop and maintain positive and collaborative working relationships with Members, Executive Directors, Directors, Heads of Service and relevant directorate staff as required.
*Liaise with external professional staff regarding discrete areas of work as required.
Key requirements: *Admitted solicitor/barrister
*Knowledge of housing management & ASB law
*Recent experience working in housing law or disrepair claims specifically
*Experience in the use of ICT (familiar with Word, Outlook and legal research websites)
*Presentation skills
*Ability to communicate effectively (in writing and orally) with a diverse range of people
*Ability to advise officers and councillors
*Ability to draft relevant legal documents -notices, statements, draft orders etc.
