The purpose of the role is to provide expert advice, support, supervision and professional guidance to team members including implementing the performance management framework and AMHP Competencies as set out in The Mental Health (Approved Professionals) (Approval) (England) Regulations 2008.
The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of the Mental Health Act and mental health social work practice. Also, have experience of dealing with complex safeguarding / social care issues and proceedings.
Key Responsibilities: *Quality assure and monitor expenditure as required by the business unit. To authorise and approve expenditure for the budget, as delegated, having determined that expenditure is necessary.
*Managing/supervising up to 10 AMHP’s.
*Contribute to the maintenance, development and improvement of the AMHP service to promote evidence based good practice. To attend meetings, contract meetings and workshops as directed and lead on the development of specific projects.
*Provide advice, support and expertise to colleagues within the business unit, to include student supervision, group meetings, audits and field work observations to ensure continued development of practice standards.
*Maintain essential records in accordance with the policies of the businesses unit and to make available statistical information and records as required.
*Undertake statutory duties as required for the work of the service group, including complaints, and/or to cover local office duties.
*Undertake joint work with colleagues within the business unit and from other agencies as relevant to the effective delivery of services.
*Take responsibility for promoting, developing and supporting diversity within the team.
*Take a lead role within the team in the protection of vulnerable adults as determined by local policies and procedures including the chairing of strategy meetings and case conferences as required and undertaking case file audits.
*Maintain up to date knowledge of all changes to legislation, policies and procedures affecting service delivery by attendance at training and workshops and therefore be able to pass this knowledge on to others as required.
Qualifications: *Professional qualifications, i.e. Degree in social work, CSS CQSW, Dip SW.
*Social Work England Registration.
*AMHP Qualification.
Skills & Experience: *Minimum of 12 months recent experience in a similar role, or context and ideally within a public sector organisation.
*Significant experience of working within an adult setting.
*Able to critically analyse, evaluate and apply knowledge of legislation, local policy and procedures, national codes and multi-disciplinary practice.
*Knowledge of all relevant legislation, statutory guidance and regulations including the Mental Health Act and Mental Capacity Act legislation
*Knowledge of safeguarding responsibilities, legislation and guidance.
*Strong IT skills including Microsoft packages or equivalent (e.g. G Suite).
