We are looking for a Senior Payroll Specialist to join our team at our head office in Duxford.
Aim of the Role:
The primary responsibility of the Senior Payroll Specialist is to process payroll for both PAYE and self-employed monthly paid employees. This includes ensuring the accurate and timely processing of wage payments to operatives across the Thriplow Group’s subsidiary companies. The role involves obtaining weekly timesheets from managers, reviewing and processing them, including worked hours, additional payments, statutory payments, tax code changes, and pension changes, all in preparation for the monthly BACS payment run.
In addition to payroll processing, the role requires the accurate review and reporting of related payroll information. This includes management reporting, month-end holiday information, and detailed breakdowns of worked hours as requested. The Senior Payroll Specialist must ensure all payroll transactions are recorded and maintained in compliance with company policies and legal requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
*Ensure accurate and timely processing of wage payments to operatives across the Thriplow Group’s subsidiary companies.
*Implementing new processes to improve payroll efficiency and accuracy.
*Obtain weekly timesheets from managers, review and process them, including worked hours, additional payments, statutory payments, tax code changes, and pension changes.
*Prepare payroll for the monthly payment run via BACS transfer.
*Address and resolve payroll-related questions or issues via telephone and email.
*Ensure all payroll transactions are recorded and maintained in compliance with company policies and legal requirements.
*Calculate and remit payroll taxes, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations.
*Generate and distribute payroll reports to management as needed.
*Assist with internal and external audits by providing necessary payroll information and documentation.
*Keep payroll systems and records up to date with any changes in employee status, tax laws, employment laws relevant to payroll, or company policies.
Experience Required:
*Knowledge & previous experience of payroll
*Excellent multi-tasking ability
*Excellent IT skills including CRM / Payroll Systems used and intermediate Excel
*Good payroll legislation knowledge
*Knowledge of umbrella/CIS/limited company industry
*Fast data entry skills, accurate & good attention to detail
*Methodical and organised
*Accuracy and timeliness of payments
*Ability to identify and escalate issues
