Job Description:
As the world’s greatest museum of art and design, the V&A enriches people’s lives by promoting the practice of design and increasing knowledge, understanding and enjoyment of the designed world. This is an exciting time to join the V&A AV Support team. Technology is integral to the operation of the V&A and plays a fundamental role in enabling the Museum to achieve its strategic objectives.
The AV technician will be responsible for delivering high profile VIP Events to the highest standard, working with internal and external teams to create dynamic, exciting experiences for the public. To achieve this the AV technician must not only be technically astute, but also able to communicate, organise and work well with a diverse spectrum of stakeholders and personalities.
The AV team support the business’s AV needs 7 days a week. The team cover weekends and evenings on a rota with the expectation of working 1 weekend in 4 on average, if required.
Key Responsibilities:
*Resolve AV equipment-related incidents, service requests and problems in a timely and efficient manner in line with Business requirements.
*Employ appropriate maintenance, support and incident management processes and procedures to support and maintain AV equipment, and to investigate and resolve AV equipment-related incidents.
*Provide timely communication to users on the status of their service requests and incidents.
*Liaise with IT/AV suppliers to ensure AV equipment-related incidents and problems are resolved in a timely and professional manner.
*Undertake AV equipment-related problem diagnosis, implementing problem resolution or prevention measures as appropriate.
*Monitor the performance of supported AV equipment. Create and maintain AV equipment technical support documentation.
*Run on site and online Lectures, Events, meetings, and workshops for internal and external stakeholders, both individually and with other AV team members.
*Work within a Hybrid Environment of Events, meetings, and workshops, where individuals can be present on site and virtually.
*Share knowledge and expertise with others, coaching and supporting team members as required.
*Manage Events and Projects as a whole, outside of the traditional parameters of the AV environment. To undertake training as required by your line manager.
*Perform other duties as assigned by your line manager.
*Understand and comply with the IT organisation requirements, processes, procedures, and policies.
*Ensure that all activities are performed at a consistently high standard with minimal risk to the V&A, and that opportunities to improve services and processes are identified and actioned.
*Be committed to health and safety and ensure familiarity with all the Museum’s health and safety policies and procedures.
*Be security conscious, ensure familiarity and co-operation with all museum security procedures and ensure you always wear a security pass when on museum premises.
*Promote equality and diversity in all aspects of your work by developing and maintaining positive working relationships, ensuring that colleagues are treated fairly and with respect/dignity and actively contributing to developments that support the museum’s strategy for widening access, inclusion, and diversity.
*Carry out ad hoc duties as requested by appropriate managers within your department.
*Support and set-up of AV and interactive equipment such as projectors, screens, video-conferencing equipment, interactive equipment, sound desks, sound systems, DSLRS etc.
