Band 6 Occupational Therapist - Acute General
(6 months NHS experience is mandatory)
Grade: Band 6
Location: Royal Stoke and/or County
Contract Duration: 3 months
Pay Rate: £22 - £24 per hour
Pay Mechanism: Direct Engagement

Job Summary:
We are seeking a motivated and experienced Senior Occupational Therapist to join our dynamic team at the University Hospital of North Midlands. In this role, you will manage the clinical delivery of care within a specialty team, providing essential occupational therapy services to patients with complex needs. You will work autonomously, supervise less experienced therapists, support staff, and students, and undertake nine-month rotations through your clinical specialty.
Key Responsibilities:
*Actively participate in ward meetings, case conferences, and ward rounds as part of the multidisciplinary team.
*Liaise with external service providers, such as GPs, clinics, and community services, to ensure comprehensive patient care.
*Use motivational and negotiation skills to engage patients, especially those with communication barriers.
*Deliver and interpret complex information to patients and colleagues, adapting treatment plans based on thorough assessments.
*Manage your caseload, delegate tasks to Band 5 staff, and ensure appropriate equipment and materials are used.
*Provide treatment techniques with an understanding of their benefits and risks, and educate patients and their families on their conditions.
*Participate in the development of quality initiatives, clinical audits, and service improvements in collaboration with the team.
*Maintain accurate patient records and documentation in line with local and national guidelines.
Key Requirements:
*HCPC-registered Occupational Therapist with relevant experience.
*Strong clinical skills in assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation of patients.
*Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
*Ability to work flexibly, including weekends and bank holidays, across two Trust sites.
