The Role We are looking for an experienced and passionate Senior Practitioner to join our Children’s Services team, focusing on supporting children in care. This pivotal role will involve long-term case management of children and young people, advocating for their welfare and ensuring that their care plans are effectively implemented. You will be working with a multidisciplinary team to safeguard children, promote permanency, and build strong relationships that enable children and young people to thrive.
Key Responsibilities:
*Lead on the management of complex cases, ensuring the safety and well-being of children and young people in care.
*Collaborate with families, statutory agencies, and third-sector partners to deliver holistic care plans that meet the needs of children.
*Act as a Corporate Parent, advocating for children’s rights and ensuring the stability of their care arrangements.
*Carry out child protection and safeguarding inquiries, including assessments and permanency planning through adoption, guardianship, or long-term fostering.
*Participate in court work, preparing detailed statements and attending hearings as required.
*Maintain accurate records and manage your caseload effectively, adhering to all relevant legislation and best practice.
About You To succeed in this role, you will need to be a qualified social worker with significant experience working in children’s services, particularly in care management. You will have a sound understanding of safeguarding procedures, care planning, and statutory responsibilities, with excellent skills in relationship-building and advocacy.
Key Skills and Qualifications:
*Qualified Social Worker (registered with Social Work England)
*Proven experience in children’s social care, with a focus on care planning and permanency
*Strong understanding of child protection, safeguarding, and statutory frameworks
*Excellent communication, assessment, and case management skills
*Ability to work collaboratively with multiple stakeholders
*Confident in court settings, with experience in report writing and presenting evidence
