Job Description: Legal Secretary - Family Law
Location: Stoke Salary: £26,000 per annum (to be reviewed in May 2025) Employment Type: Permanent
About the Role: My client is looking for a diligent and highly organised Legal Secretary to join their Family Law department. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment and be capable of managing a high volume, quick turnaround caseload. This position is focused on providing comprehensive administrative support to their family law solicitors, ensuring efficiency and accuracy in all tasks.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide secretarial support to solicitors in the Family Law department.
* Manage a high-volume caseload with quick turnaround times.
* Prepare, format, and proofread legal documents and correspondence.
* Handle client enquiries, both in person and over the phone, with professionalism and sensitivity.
* Coordinate appointments, meetings, and court dates.
* Maintain and organise client files, ensuring all documentation is up-to-date.
* Assist with billing and time recording.
* Liaise with clients, barristers, and other legal professionals.
* Perform general administrative tasks such as filing, photocopying, and scanning.
Qualifications and Skills:
* Proven experience as a Legal Secretary, preferably within Family Law.
* Exceptional organisational and time-management skills.
* Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
* Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and legal software.
* Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
* Professional and empathetic approach when dealing with clients.
* Knowledge of legal terminology and procedures.
