Location: Kidderminster
Hours: Mon - Fri 07:30 - 15:30
Pay: From £14.83 per hour
Contract: Temp - Perm
Pertemps are seeking a MIG/TIG Welder to join a manufacturing company based in Kidderminster. Working on a temporary to permanent basis, this is an excellent opportunity for someone with a passion for manufacturing and a desire to grow within the team. The successful candidate will operate and maintain welding equipment, follow General Arrangement drawings to precisely measure, cut, and assemble metal components, while maintaining a safe working environment.
The Duties of a MIG/TIG Welder: *Read and understand technical drawings and specifications to determine welding parameters
*Cleaning, grinding, and preparing metal surfaces for welding
*Select the correct welding wire, gas mixture and adjust speed based on the metal type and desired weld quality.
*Perform MIG/TIG welding operations according to specifications, including tack welding and fillet welds.
*Visually inspect welds for defects like cracks, porosity, and improper penetration
*Perform necessary quality checks.
*Clean and maintain welding equipment, including the welding gun, wire feeder, and gas regulator.
*Follow all safety procedures, wear appropriate protective gear, and maintain a clean and organised workspace.
The Requirements of a MIG/TIG Welder: *Minimum Apprenticeship, NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Fabrication, or equivalent
*Ability to create products from detailed drawings for metal components in sheet metal fabrication.
*Proficient in MIG welding techniques, including different welding positions
*Understanding of metal properties and how they affect welding
*Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings
*Basic math skills for calculations related to measurements and material selection
*Mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot welding equipment issues
*Attention to detail and commitment to quality standards
*Must adhere to safety protocols in order to ensure a safe working environment.
