Job Description:
About Crowe
Crowe is a leading national audit, tax, advisory and consulting firm with global reach and local expertise. We are an independent member of Crowe Global, one of the top 10 accounting networks in the world, with access to more than 40,000 people in 150 countries and across 798 offices globally.
Our vision is to be recognised as essential to the future success of our clients by helping them to answer tomorrow’s questions and make smart decisions that have lasting value through the highest quality audit, tax, advisory and risk services.
Crowe is where talented people can realise their potential, are successful and enjoy what they do by making a positive difference to our clients, communities and each other.
At Crowe, our aim is to create a community where regardless of gender, identity, sexuality, race, ethnicity, education or background, everyone is valued, can flourish and achieve their full potential.
Technical Consultant, R&D Tax, Thames Valley
Crowe UK in Reading have enjoyed fantastic growth in recent years, neatly demonstrated by a 60% growth in headcount across our office. Part of this growth has given rise to the need to deliver new, innovative value-adding services to our ever-evolving client portfolio - which has resulted in the further development of our Research and Development (R&D) Tax Centre of Excellence.
We would like to strengthen this team with the appointment of a Technical Consultant in a newly-created role. The idea is to complement the existing team with ideas, innovation and great technical knowledge. This role will naturally evolve and change shape; however, we expect some of the main things that will initially occupy the time of the successful candidate to be:
*Engaging with current and prospective clients to identify opportunities for new R&D projects
*Gathering detailed information about clients’ various R&D activities
*Preparing compelling technical reports that clearly outline these activities and articulate the claim skilfully
*Ensure claims are robust, meeting government guidelines and current legislation in the R&D space
*Provide consultative support to clients throughout the claim process
*Keeping yourself at the forefront of latest trends, industry developments and government updates and communicating these as necessary to your colleagues and clients
We feel that those that can demonstrate some of the below knowledge, experience and behaviours will be well suited to an opportunity like this:
*Educated to a degree level (or equivalent) in a field heavily influenced by R&D such as Computer Science, Engineering, Sciences, Technology, etc.
*Some notable achievements that demonstrate great experience in R&D consultancy, with a particular focus on producing instructive reports that build a compelling case for R&D claims
*Excellent written communication skills that underpin an ability to skilfully craft written reports
*Excellent verbal communication skills that demonstrate an ability to conduct research quickly, efficiently and comprehensively - as well as being able to articulate complex ideas simply and succinctly
*A clear understanding of the importance of and commitment to delivering work to agreed deadlines
*A real focus on detail, with evidence of strong organisational, problem-solving and time management skills
*Proactive and self-motivated by nature, and a skilled relationship-builder
There is a real opportunity to help shape the future of this service in our growing R&D tax Centre of Excellence and the role itself will evolve as the service (and your experience) grows - opening up exciting opportunities for great career progression.
