Deaf Service Co-ordinator
Location: Northampton
Salary: £23,605 per annum plus benefits pro rata
Hours: 18.75 hours per week

This service is the next step in the patients’ journey from the UK’s largest Medium Secure Service for Deaf men and women aged between 18 and 65 years old. We manage D/deaf or hearing impaired (profound, severe, partial or hard of hearing) patients with complex mental illness in a sensitive environment within the Community.
A bit about the role
The role ensures the provision of interpreter services required by deaf staff and patients and ensures they have access to work and communication support to enable the delivery of patient care across St Andrew’s (Northampton). The role involves scheduling, maintaining records and cross referencing invoices as well as service development support as required.
You will work closely with the Ward Manager and Deaf Communications Development Manager who will provide support and guidance to ensure business needs are fully met.
A bit about you
You will be someone who:
*You may be D/deaf yourself or British Sign Language (BSL) Trained, an understanding of Deaf culture and a drive to explore the best ways to support the communication of this unique patient group.
*Focuses on business efficiencies
*Demonstrates strong customer service
*Communicates effectively
*Acts on own initiative
*Supports team working
An understanding of the Deaf Service is desirable, as is relevant experience, although it is not essential.
