Job Description:
Velocity UK Ltd are currently seeking a skilled Fabricator/Welder to join their Manufacturing and Maintenance Team on a temporary basis, maintaining and building road repair equipment.
Working as a key member of a small team the ideal candidate will have strong background in Fabrication and Welding and be able to demonstrate various MIG welding techniques.
The role will comprise of manufacturing metal parts and welded assemblies for new machinery and carrying out repairs and upgrades to existing machinery.
Skills and Experience
*Experienced in MIG welding small to medium mild steel components
*Experience working with hand and power tools
*Attention to detail ensuring high standards of workmanship consistently attained
*Experience using general fabrication workshop equipment
*Ability to follow written or verbal instructions
*Able to measure, cut, drill and assemble work precisely to meet drawing tolerances
Duties and Responsibilities
*Fabricating to an acceptable quality standard working from engineering drawings
*Maintain a safe and clean working environment
*Work individually and as part of a wider manufacturing and maintenance team
*Self-checking and being accountable for own quality of work.
*Prioritise workload to meet tight deadlines
Essential requirements
*Minimum of 5 years’ sheet metalwork/fabrication experience
*Able to read & work from engineering drawings
*Able to cope with a varying fast paced workload
*Prepared to work outside of skillset
*Welding qualification or time served
*Good mechanical knowledge required

Location: Sunderland
Hours:
Monday – Thursday 7.00am – 4.00pm (30min unpaid lunch break)
Friday 7.00am – 1.00pm (Early finish, no lunch break)
Hourly Rate: £16 per hour
Expected Contract Length - 4 months
Over-time available at enhanced rate
